1960s Brown Glass Ashtray – Vintage Anchor Glass Employee Christmas Gift Stamped Merry XMAS Engr Dept 1967

This vintage mid-century amber brown glass ashtray has places for 3 cigarettes and says “Merry XMAS ENGR. DEPT. 1967” with a jar symbol in the middle. From what I was told, it was made in house at the Georgia Anchor Glass plant and given to employees working in the engineering department. This unique piece of tobacciana is also a fascinating glimpse into America’s old glass making plants.

These are the best photos I can manage with my camera and light setup. The color is a dark orangish brown. In sunlight, the edge becomes a transparent dark orange while the embossed center remains dark brown.
