A New Chapter for 1064 Vintage
Growing up in Georgia, summertime meant Mema's homemade ice cream churned by hand with an old-fashioned wooden bucket ice cream maker. Feeling like your arm was about to fall off was part of the "experience." After what felt like a thousand cranks, when the ice cream turned into slightly peaky slush, she'd pour it into vintage Fire King jadeite bowls, top it with peanuts, and tell us to "eat slow."
Those bowls are almost 80 years old now. We still have them. Although we upgraded to an electric ice cream maker, we still break them out when we make homemade ice cream. It just doesn't taste right without those iconic green jadeite bowls.
That's the magic of vintage glassware and antique kitchenware—nostalgia is part of the experience.
How I Got Into This Business
When I stumbled across apple crates overflowing with my great-great-aunt’s antique glass collection, I never imagined it would lead to this. I started a little Etsy shop, thinking I’d send a few teacups and pieces of uranium glass to new homes and shut it down in six months. Then I’d go back to haunting local auctions for my personal collection, gifts, and the occasional eBay listing.
But something happened. I found a community—people who, like me, can’t walk past a hand-stitched quilt without imagining the hours poured into it, who see a delicate teacup and think of the stories it could tell.
Now, 1064 Vintage is growing—creating our own website, offering finds on the Shop app, and establishing a presence on Facebook, Pinterest, and beyond. (And no, we’re not leaving Etsy!)

Why Expand Beyond Etsy?
Etsy has been an amazing platform on which to start my business. I’ve met uranium glass enthusiasts, vintage quilt admirers, and people who understand that patina is character. But Etsy is just a marketplace. It doesn’t allow me to share restoration tips, historical deep dives, or behind-the-scenes finds.
Launching 1064Vintage.com gives me a home where I can:
- Share my latest vintage hauls before they hit Etsy or eBay.
- Post restoration tips, display ideas, and collector guides.
- Dive into the fascinating histories behind the pieces I sell. (Speaking of history—have I mentioned OMGUS’s Rosenthal porcelain documents in the US National Archives?)
New Local Pickup Options
As a small business in Houston County, Georgia, I love being part of the local community. While 1064 Vintage has primarily served customers nationwide through Etsy, launching our own website lets us offer more delivery options for vintage treasure hunters here in Middle Georgia.
In addition to our nationwide shipping, we offer local meet-up options for item pickup.
Stay Connected
If you're into social media, please follow us on Facebook and Pinterest. We're not super active yet, but we're already sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses. In the future, we hope to share more resources, recommendations, project ideas, and amazing finds.
