Add timeless charm and history to your collection with this vintage 1940s Rosenthal Blue Danube cup and saucer set. Pattern No. 3458, also known as Blue Danube, offered a modern twist on the classic Blue Onion design. Its bold blue florals and delicate gold trim on fine white porcelain create a striking contrast.
Produced in the aftermath of World War II, this piece reflects Rosenthal’s early postwar designs. The saucer is marked Rosenthal Selb-Germany US Zone, while the cup bears a slightly different marking, substituting Winifred for US Zone.
Both marks are consistent with Rosenthal's marks in use during the U.S. occupation period (1945–1949). According to the 1946 Federal Register, the U.S. "permitted" but did not require a "US Zone" country of origin mark on German imports.
